Veronique De Clerck
Veronique studied ceramics at the age of 18 for three years at the Academy of Fine arts in her hometown in Belgium.
Shortly afterwards she began her journey of medical humanitarian work. She lived and worked for 20 years in developing countries.
She recently returned from Africa and restarted following her ceramics journey in many ways inspired by her experiences abroad.
Veronique is a Belgian-Australian, and today is based in Barcelona, Spain. She mainly works with mixed stoneware, and combines wheel throwing and hand building techniques.
She balances contrast in texture and shape, and tests the limits of the clay materials. She continues to explore both functional and sculptural ceramic work.
Currently reskilling, and with her own approaches, Veronique believes in always taking risks and believes that inspiration can be found in just about everything.
